Carolina Caring’s Palliative Medicine Clinic offers specialized palliative care to those who are living with an advanced illness. Our team of experts provide comfort and support through counseling and education, aiming to relieve any suffering the patient may experience.

We believe that palliative medicine should be available in outpatient clinics as well as patients' homes, hospitals, long-term care facilities, assisted living centers and more. Allow us to help you or your loved one through this difficult time.

What is Palliative Medicine?

Palliative medicine improves the quality of life for those facing serious illnesses including cardiovascular disease, chronic pulmonary disease, dementia, and more. Services can begin during any stage of illness and often help to reduce stress by offering expert care coordination, symptom relief and comfort.

How is Palliative Care Different than Hospice?

Palliative care is a consulting service that provides an extra layer of support to help patients stay active and as well as possible. While each visit with your palliative care provider lasts about an hour, these visits do not replace regular visits with your primary doctor.

Hospice is end-of-life care for those who are thought to be in their last six months of life. It is designed to attend to patients’ spiritual and emotional needs while reducing pain and suffering.

Where Can I Receive Palliative Care?

Palliative care can be provided in any clinical setting, including hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living centers, palliative care clinics or at your home. Palliative care providers visit regularly and are available by phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Who Will Provide Care for Me or My Loved One?

If you are receiving palliative medicine services, you may receive care from Nurse Practitioners Jacqueline Brown, Patricia Bortnick, Tisha Fisher, Dustin Ford, Megan Frasure, Leah Leska, Robin Sherrill, or Kelly Stockton-Drum.
