NEWTON, NC—Carolina Caring Social Worker Christie Mullins, of Lincoln County, has been selected as a Hyundai Hometown Hero.
Only 4 individuals nationwide are recognized as a Hyundai Hometown Hero per year. Mullins was nominated for this award by Carolina Caring Chaplain Tony Parker, who shares that “Christie accepts the most difficult situations with care, as if her patients were her own family.”
The announcement took place on Tuesday, September 8th at the Carolina Caring Newton Campus on Robinson Road. WCNC Charlotte led the story, and representatives from Hyundai USA and Paramount Automotive Group were in attendance.
As part of this recognition, Mullins received a brand-new Hyundai Santa Fe fully paid for by the dealership. The gift was especially timely; over the past year, Mullins had been experiencing car troubles and difficulty securing transportation to the office.
Colleagues share that despite her car troubles, Mullins always found a way to arrive to work early, stay late, and address the needs of the patients and families receiving hospice care at Carolina Caring.
Mullins believes that being recognized as a Hyundai Hometown Hero and receiving this new car is not only a display of God’s grace and faithfulness, but also showcases the genuine support, encouragement, and kindness of her Carolina Caring team.
“For some time, reliable transportation was a concern on my heart,” Mullins shares. “I prayed for guidance, provision, and a way forward, trusting that God would meet my needs in His perfect timing.”
“But winning this new car represents much more than transportation…it will give me peace of mind, greater independence, and the ability to continue fulfilling my responsibilities with confidence.”
