ASHEVILLE, NC—Carolina Caring earned top recognition at the annual Carolinas Healthcare
Public Relations and Marketing Society (CHPRMS) conference, taking home three awards for
marketing excellence at the Wallie Awards Ceremony on November 20 th in Asheville, NC.
CHPRMS, the region’s premier healthcare marketing and public relations society, identifies
innovative and creative ways to share ideas, strategies, and champion excellence within the
field of healthcare communications. The Wallie Awards honor specific marketing materials,
while the prestigious Golden Tusk Award recognizes multimedia campaigns that demonstrate
data-driven success and meaningful outcomes. Winners are selected by a national panel of
judges with experience across diverse marketing fields.
Carolina Caring received two Wallie Awards in the categories of Web Design and Photography.
The mission-driven campaign, “Culture of Caring”, landed Carolina Caring its first Golden Tusk
Award for outstanding Internal Relations, Employee Recognition, and Engagement.
“Culture of Caring” reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to “caring for each other,
our patients, and our community by focusing on what matters”. It is grounded in six key traits:
Professional, Respectful, Trustworthy, Knowledgeable, Non-Judgmental, and Compassionate.
Achieving the Golden Tusk Award affirms the numerous ways Carolina Caring fosters a “Culture
of Caring” for staff, volunteers, and the communities they serve.
“Receiving the Wallie Awards and the Golden Tusk Award from CHPRMS is a tremendous honor
and it validates the hard work and efforts of the entire Carolina Caring team,” says Christina
McNally, Interim CEO, Carolina Caring. “Our organization continues to stand out because our
Culture of Caring is not just something we talk about, but something our employees embrace
each day through their teamwork, professionalism, and compassion. I am proud of our team,
and this recognition is a validation of everyone’s hard work.”
The campaign has driven growth in partnerships and staffing across the organization’s 12-
county service area, including the strategic partnership with CaroMont Health in October 2024,
with Gaston Hospice now operating as Carolina Caring. Employee appreciation events, staff
spotlights, continuing education opportunities, and the CEO Newsletter’s consistent
communication have all led to a reduced turnover rate that remains stronger than industry
standards.
The campaign also introduced Caring for Our Community, a corporate social responsibility
initiative offering employees up to 4 hours of company paid time to take part in local service
projects. Collectively, employees have contributed over 200 service hours to nonprofit
organizations in their region.
Carolina Caring consistently ranks above the national average in Modern Healthcare’s “Best
Places to Work” survey results, including the Overall Employee Experience category. The
organization has received the “Best Place to Work in Healthcare” award for seven consecutive
years.
